Radioistose scanning of the heart and aorta was first described by Rejali et al in 1958 and has subsequently been shown to be safe, simple, and useful procedure for the diagnosis of pericardial effusion and aortic aneurysm. We have used 113m-In Transferrin as scanning agents and employed Picker Company, Magnascanner 500 (Nodel 280K). From 1971 to Apr-30-¡¯ 77 we scanned 12 patients, of whom 4 have had pericardial effusion and 3 other left ventricular aneurysm, 2 abdomominal aortic aneurysm, 2 cardiomegaly due to mitral stenosis and myocardiopathy and lung Ca. Satisfactory scan have been obtained with dose of 3-5mCi (¥³) of In-113m Transferrin immediately after injection the scanning procedure is begun, progress from the sternal netch caudally, and was taken about 15-20 minutes to finish up the scanning.
